Complaints/Actions Not Included In Final Report


COMPLAINT: A person living outside Amador County filed a complaint alleging perjury by an Amador County Deputy District Attorney.

ACTION: The Grand Jury requested the District Attorney to investigate. Upon investigation it was determined the complaint was without merit. The Grand Jury sent a letter to the complainant regarding its findings.


COMPLAINT: A citizen complained that a Grand Jury indictment was not issued in a court case.

ACTION: The Grand Jury determined this was not within the duties of a Civil Grand Jury and sent the complainant a letter regarding its findings.


COMPLAINT: Two persons living outside Amador County filed a complaint in regards to the non- profit status of a Ministry. The ministry is run from a Web site with an Amador County Internet Service Provider.

ACTION: The Grand Jury determined it had no jurisdiction in this matter. The Grand Jury notified the complainants in writing of its determination.


COMPLAINT: An inmate at Mule Creek State Prison filed a complaint concerning overcrowding and lack of facilities.

ACTION: A formal review was made of conditions at Mule Creek State Prison. See final report.


COMPLAINT: A citizen complained that she was denied access to the Drytown Cemetery.

ACTION: The Grand Jury is referring this complaint to the 1999-2000 Grand Jury because there is not enough time left in the 1998-1999 Grand Jury term to review it when it was received.


COMPLAINT: A citizen filed a complaint with the Grand Jury concerning actions of the Amador County Superior Court and court appointed lawyers.

ACTION: The Grand Jury determined it had no jurisdiction in this matter. The Grand Jury notified the complainant in writing of its determination.


COMPLAINT: A citizen filed a complaint about harassment from a County department.

ACTION: The Grand Jury reviewed investigations by the previous Grand Jury concerning this complaint. The Grand Jury determined the matter had been fully investigated. A letter was sent to the complainant stating this.


COMPLAINT: A citizen made a complaint to the Grand Jury requesting an investigation into the actions of a member of the Amador County Transportation Commission.

ACTION: The Grand Jury sent the citizen a letter explaining that the Grand Jury cannot investigate a matter that is currently in litigation.


COMPLAINT: Two citizens filed a complaint against the Amador City Council regarding violations of the Brown Act.

ACTION: This issue was forwarded from the 1997- 1998 Grand Jury. After review, the 1998-1999 Grand Jury found that the grounds for the complaint were unfounded.


COMPLAINT: A citizen filed a complaint against the Ione City Council regarding violations of the Brown Act.

ACTION: This complaint was presented and investigated by the previous Grand Jury, and, after consideration, the case was closed.
